The supportive and confidential relationship between therapist and client allows time and space for feelings and thoughts to be explored without judgement. When C. G. Jung described life itself as alchemy he was referring to our ability to integrate and process the often opposing thoughts and feelings which cause us to feel confused and anxious.
Regular, usually weekly one hour sessions create a safe environment where together we can look at what brings the client to therapy and to consider what changes need to be made.
My main training is in Transpersonal Psychotherapy. This provides the client with an opportunity for in-depth exploration to discover his or her unique truth and potential. This is empowering because they can begin to trust their own inner wisdom which may have been obscured by events, environment and significant others. Just as an acorn needs the right conditions to become a mighty oak, we have certain requirements to help us fulfil our potential but these are sometimes lacking. This is where therapy can make the difference and problems with relationships, work, low self-esteem and depression can often be resolved.
For Shorter term counselling, where a specific outcome is required I offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This is more goal oriented and effective with panic attacks, phobias anxiety and eating disorders. Based on the idea that we feel how we think it aims to explore and change the cognition (thought pattern) and then the feelings and behaviour.
Depending on individual needs, I work with dreams, psychosynthesis, creative visualisation, gestalt, art therapy and breathing exercises to facilitate clients to find fulfilment and to make sense of the rich tapestry of their lives.
